Buying guide

  • An NVMe M.2 SSD is the fastest option for a system/boot drive — check your motherboard has a free M.2 slot and note its generation (3/4/5) for max speed.
  • A SATA SSD is a solid budget upgrade if you don't have a free M.2 slot, and still much faster than a hard drive.
  • Hard drives (HDD) still make sense for cheap bulk storage — backups and media libraries — at a much lower cost per TB than SSD.
  • Backing up important files or need shared storage for multiple devices? A NAS keeps everything backed up automatically and accessible from anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between NVMe and SATA SSD?

NVMe is several times faster and plugs directly into an M.2 slot on your motherboard. SATA SSD uses the same connector as a hard drive — still much faster than HDD, but capped lower than NVMe.

Can you clone my old drive onto a new one?

Yes — we can migrate your existing Windows installation and files onto a new drive in-store.

Do external drives work with both Mac and Windows?

Most come formatted for Windows (NTFS) or exFAT, which works on both. Let us know if you need one preformatted for Mac before you buy.
